VRML project
- Introduction
This project happened during the last year of Master (2006) for 2 months. The aim was to create 3D interactive maps for navigation that one can see as extensions to classical 2D maps. These maps can be visualized on low-end computers or mobile phones.
Representations are not expected to be realistic or to use the right scales. Instead, this project was a mean to explore VRML features for creating navigation tools. Creating symbolic representations and managing level of details were the priorities.

Picture Indexing & Retrieving project
- Introduction
This project happened during the first year of Master (2005) for 6 months. This work was lead by researchers of the laboratory LaBRI for the indexing and retrieving of pictures. It was expected to find new ways for retrieving pictures in huge databases of pictures.
This project used C++ for coding, with the help of LAPACK for fast computations on matrices and Tulip for treatment on (big) graphs.
I continued to work on this project as an internship during all the summer (4 months) to implement new ways for picture retrieving to users.
- Abstract
As new technologies rise, needing fast searches of multimedia files in big databases is becoming essential. A recent approach suggests to consider a graph modeling the images thanks to their descriptors. Nodes represent the images and the weighting of edges measures their similarities. In order to get an efficient research, the generated graph must have small world properties : each node must be quickly reachable from any other node.
The originality of this project is that it proposes a research based on a local approach : the user only has a view on a sample of similar images, and will be able to find any other image in a little number of clicks.
This report presents a studying of existing, the the specifications, and the coding of this project.
